According to the Siddhartha Gautama Buddha (566 - 486 B.C.) desire is the main cause of all the evil and suffering of human life. Buddha from the ancient Indian languages of Pali and Sanskrit. It means ‘one who has awakened’. Buddha taught us the eightfold path. Right conduct, right motive, right speech, right effort, right resolve, right livelihood, right attention and right concentration (meditation) to gain over suffering.
Siddhartha Gautama sat down beneath a tree and meditated several more than one month but less than two months. He did not rise until he had found the truth.
The tree under which Buddha meditated came to be known as the Bodhi tree (the tree of wisdom). The place became known as Bodh Gaya (in north- eastern part of India).
Buddha followers believed that he attained nirvana on the day of the full moon in the month of Vaishakha (Vesak in Pali). This is now a Holy Day for the Buddhists (Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Myanmar(Burma), Singapore, Some part of Indonesia, Vietnam, Nepal, and Taiwan).
